Cheyenne, Montana built for energy savings

Pardee Homes is offering homes in the Cheyenne and Montana neighborhoods that exceed national energy-efficiency standards by at least 30 percent, according to sales director Rob Tuvell.

The two neighborhoods, both in the Shadow Mountain Ranch community, use energy-saving features such as low-emissivity windows, high-performance heating and cooling systems, and tightly sealed air ducts.

Pardee was among the first home builders in Southern Nevada to include this energy-efficiency program with their homes, according to Sam Rashkin, a representative for the Environmental Protection Agency.

"The EPA estimates that a typical Energy Star home would average hundreds of dollars a year in savings over the same home built to the National Energy Standards," Rashkin said. "The Energy Star program is a national, voluntary program that is becoming better known as energy efficiency moves higher on the home buyers' list of priorities."

The Montana neighborhood features four one- and two-story floor plans measuring from 2,443 to 3,468 square feet. The floor plans include as many as six bedrooms, four baths and an optional four-car garage in two plans. Other options include a bonus room, library, den or tech center.

Prices start from $225,450 to $257,450.

Cheyenne offers four one-and two-story designs with family rooms and island kitchens. Ranging from 1,383 to 2,422 square feet, the homes include as many as four bedrooms and three baths, a bonus room and three-car garage.

Prices start from $158,450 to $200,450.

Nearby is the Desert Breeze Park and Community Center, which offers ball fields, basketball courts, playgrounds, roller hockey, skate boarding and a dog run.

To visit the neighborhoods, drive west on Tropicana Avenue, past Durango Drive, to Grand Canyon Drive and turn left. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when it opens at 11 a.m.

Pardee has built more than 25,000 homes in the Las Vegas Valley since 1952.
