Golf prevails at Lake Las Vegas

Golf is central to the lifestyle at Lake Las Vegas Resort, a luxury property in Henderson

To complement the development's numerous golf courses, residents and nonresidents can enroll in an on-site golf school or sign up for a golf/hotel package.

The Nicklaus/Flick Game Improvement School offers daily private lessons and group clinics. Meantime, the 496-room Hyatt Regency offers a package that includes a one-night stay at the hotel and two rounds of golf at Reflection Bay Golf Club for $249 Sunday through Saturday.

In addition to the public Reflection Bay course, the private Southshore Golf Club is also open for play. Both courses were designed by PGA golfer Jack Nicklaus.

The newest course to open at the 2,600-acre community will be The Falls Golf Club, a public facility slated to open in September. The terrain of the 7,250-yard, par-72 course ranges from mountainous landscape to the desert floor, providing views of the resort's private 320-acre lake.

Residential options range from waterfront homes to golf villas and townhomes. Custom lots are available in the gated SouthShore development, which comprises 550 acres. Among them, the home sites offer lake, mountain and golf course views, and are priced from the $300,000s to more than $2 million.

Homes are priced from $400,000 to more than $1 million on the lake's northern shore.

Potential residents can take a free 45-minute water taxi ride to tour the lake from Reflection Bay to the Hyatt Regency and along SouthShore.

MonteLago Village is scheduled to open early next year. It will feature a 350-room Ritz-Carlton Hotel, which is also scheduled to open in early 2003. Also featured will be a Florentine-style bridge that will provide passage between the shores.

Upon completion, the village will also contain a spa, casino, boutiques, waterside restaurants and cafés, office space, and condominiums.

Other resort amenities include a full-service marina and the SouthShore Yacht & Beach Club, a private facility providing a beach, picnic and lawn area, outdoor pool and spa, fitness area, tennis and basketball facilities, meeting room, and banquet facilities.
