Outdoors popular at Aliante
As Aliante continues to develop, residents of the North Las Vegas community are enjoying its outdoor recreational amenities, including Nature Discovery Park. The 20-acre facility features tennis, bocce courts, horseshoe pits and a volleyball stadium, as well as a children's play area and a lake with waterfalls. "It is very gratifying to see our residents walking along the trails, watching their children have fun in the play areas and enjoying all of the other recreational facilities," said Dan Naef, senior vice president of North Valley Enterprises, the community's developer. "As more families move into their new homes in Aliante, Nature Discovery Park is quickly becoming a popular community gathering spot." Naef said one of the park's most popular attractions is a play area designed to educate children about paleontology and dinosaurs. Highlights include a "dino dig" site, egg hatching area and mud bank with exposed portions of a tyrannosaurus rex. There is also a 26-foot-tall triceratops head, and a play structure with thatched roofs depicting archaeologists' living quarters. Additional amenities in the park include a group picnic area, amphitheater, benches, shade structures, three soccer fields, and children's water play area. Construction of two additional city parks is under way. Encompassing 1,905 acres, the community comprises all-age and age-qualified villages, which will have as many as 7,500 homes. Builders in the all-ages village are Astoria Homes, Del Webb Corp., D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes, Perma-Bilt Homes, Pulte Homes and US Home. Del Webb also is developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante community. Homes are priced from the low $200,000s to the $700,000s. Nearly one-fourth of the community has been designated for recreational and public facilities. In addition to the parks, there will be more than 20 miles of trails, schools, and about 100 acres of commercial development that includes a 40-acre resort. An information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to the Aliante Parkway exit then go south. North Valley Enterprises is an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb.
