Energy Star program members commended
Gov. Kenny Guinn proclaimed July 2003 as Energy Star month in recognition of the contribution Nevada's Energy Star home builders have made toward reaching the Environmental Protection Agency's goal to reduce energy consumption. "The Energy Star builders in Nevada have contributed significantly to my Energy Protection Plan which I announced in February 2001," Guinn said. "I made conservation and energy-efficiency improvement one of the five pillars of my plan because it contributes to keeping energy costs down for those who implement efficiency measures while enhancing energy reliability for all Nevadans. The Energy Star partners in Nevada have produced an excellent promotional campaign that complements the efforts of the State Office of Energy and I wish to thank the participating builders for helping us to improve our state's energy security." Also proclaiming July as Energy Star month were the cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson, as well as Clark County. The number of homes being built to Energy Star standards is on the rise, as more Las Vegas Valley builders realize the benefits of the program, according to Nevada Energy Star Partners. Home builder partnership members are: American Premiere Homes, Amstar Homes, Astoria Homes, Beazer Homes, Centex dba Real Homes, Concordia Homes, Del Webb Corp., Desert Wind Homes, Distinctive Homes, Greystone Homes, Hearthstone Homebuilders, KB Home, Nevada Homes Group, Pardee Homes, Perma-Bilt Homes, Pulte Homes, Spinnaker Homes, Signature Homes and Westmark Homes. Visitors of any participating neighborhood can enter a drawing for prizes sponsored by local businesses. Entries will be accepted through the end of July. No purchase is required.
