Restaurateurs try new slice of Anthem master plan's lifestyle

Sun City Anthem residents Gaetano and Rory Palmeri said they value the amenities at the age-qualified Del Webb community in Henderson.

"We've lived in Las Vegas for four years at Anthem Country Club. However, we decided to move to Sun City Anthem because of the ... adult lifestyle that is unparalleled in that community," Gaetano Palmeri said.

The couple purchased the Charleston floor plan.

"The whole back of our home is lined with windows overlooking our pool. From our home site, we feel our view of the city was enough reason to move," Rory Palmeri said.

The 3,175-square-foot home features dual suites including one with a retreat, den or third bedroom, a great room with a wet bar, kitchen nook and covered patio in one story.

"The floor plan is big, open, airy," Rory Palmeri said.

Eleven additional single-story plans are available, ranging from 1,496 to 2,722 square feet. Prices start from the mid-$370,000s to the mid-$650,000s.

All homes merit the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star label and use Environments for Living building technology, which includes energy-saving features such as low-e windows and blown-in cellulose insulation. They offer a three-year heating and cooling energy-use and comfort guarantee.

"Our family loves Del Webb. Our son lives in Coventry in Anthem and another family member lives in Sun City MacDonald Ranch," Rory Palmeri said.

The owners of a restaurant in Henderson have limited free time, but enjoy spending time at Anthem Center when possible. The center, which exceeds 77,000 square feet, is the site of social, recreational and fitness activities for residents, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public.

"Even though we've been very busy, I took the mosaic class at the Anthem Center; my husband and I took the wellness class, and we visit the gym when we can," Rory Palmeri said.

Construction is under way on a second recreation center: a facility that will house a fitness area, multipurpose room, woodworking shop, arts and crafts room, a billiards gallery, performing arts center and kitchen.

The Revere at Anthem Golf Club offers two 18-hole championship golf courses.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway, turn left on Anthem Parkway and then turn right on Alexandria Drive. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Del Webb is a subsidiary of Pulte Homes Inc., one of the nation's largest home builders. It also offers the age-qualified Solera at Anthem and Sun City Aliante, as well as the all-ages Club Aliante.
