Ground broken for Street of DreamsSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
Ground has been broken for three of the six homes to be featured in next spring's Street of Dreams luxury housing tour at MacDonald Highlands in Henderson. Sun West Homes, 5 Star Development and Greg Moore Architect were the first to move dirt, and will be followed in coming weeks by Job Development, Signature Custom Homes and Desert Wind Investment. The event will be Street of Dreams' first to feature terraced hillside homes, according to Bryan Ashbaugh, chief executive of Street of Dreams. "The unique hillside topography of MacDonald Highlands, coupled with the community's unparalleled views of the valley, offer the opportunity to create something really special," he said. The homes will showcase expansive windows, courtyards, nonreflective copper roofing, and infinity edge and multi-level swimming pools. Some builders also plan to incorporate their home's surrounding natural material, such as existing boulders. Ranging from 5,400 to 7,200 square feet, the single- and two-story homes will feature subterranean or partial basements built into the hillside. The estimated value of each home ranges from $1.8 million to more than $2 million. "The ... homes will be a great addition to our community," said Rich MacDonald, developer of MacDonald Highlands. "There are some wonderful designs with many fascinating interpretations of our desert contemporary design guidelines." The show homes are being built within the community's Highlands neighborhood, raising the number of custom homes either completed or under construction in MacDonald Highlands to 30. Nearly twice as many home plans are undergoing review. "The homes already completed or nearing completion in the community have set a high standard for Street of Dreams to live up to. Knowing the builders and home designs of Street of Dreams, I think they will represent the community very well," said MacDonald, who recently moved into his own home in the community. "There are now beautiful homes lining the golf course at DragonRidge, homes lining the first of our three community parks, and homes that can be seen from miles away as they watch over the Las Vegas Valley from their hillside perch." MacDonald Highlands will comprise about 560 homes in 17 neighborhoods at buildout. Its centerpiece is the DragonRidge Golf and Country Club, which was designed by Jay Morrish and David Druzisky. A permanent clubhouse is planned to include a golf shop, pool, exercise facility, and casual and fine dining. A temporary clubhouse is open and tee times are available. The custom lots are priced from $160,000 to more than $2 million. To visit, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive, turn south and proceed to Horizon Ridge Parkway. The information office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
