DragonRidge to host `Three-Tour Challenge'
DragonRidge Country Club at MacDonald Highlands in Henderson will host the Wendy's Three-Tour Challenge Golf Tournament in November. It features the top players from each PGA Tour competing head-to-head in three-member teams for an $800,000 purse. "It is a great honor for us to host such a respected event featuring some of golf's greatest players from the Senior PGA Tour, PGA Tour and LPGA Tour, who lend their support to make it a truly memorable event," Rich MacDonald, president of the MacDonald Cos., said. The nationally televised event, which will air in December, also includes a reception and gala charity auction that supports the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. "DragonRidge is a challenging and stunning golf course, with holes literally carved into the mountainside and offering amazing views of the Las Vegas skyline," Cliff Lawson, director of operations at DragonRidge Golf Club, said. "DragonRidge and MacDonald Highlands are excited to host this prestigious event and welcome some of the top golfers in the world to our community." Since its inception in 1992, the event has raised more than $10 million dollars for the Dave Thomas Foundation and attracted participants such as Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, Fred Couples, Davis Love III, Phil Mickelson, Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb. The golf course incorporates the natural slopes and arroyos of the surrounding desert mountains into its design. The clubhouse, scheduled for completion next year, will feature a pro shop, exercise facility, swimming pool, dining room, and mixed grill and lounge. A temporary clubhouse is open. Memberships are available to residents and nonresidents. Upon completion, MacDonald Highlands will feature luxury residences amid 17 neighborhoods spread over 1,200 acres. Currently, eight custom-home neighborhoods are under development with home sites that provide city, golf course and mountain views. Custom lots in these neighborhoods range in price from $179,000 to more than $2 million. The community's information office is at 1700 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Suite 100. To visit, take Interstate 215 to Valle Verde Drive and go south to Horizon Ridge Parkway. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
