Sun City resident cites family closeness for move
Former Minnesota resident Jon A. Howe pulled up stakes and drove west with only what he could load into his SUV. One of his younger sisters had already moved to Las Vegas and his other sister planned to do so as well. Howe, a computer programmer, recently purchased a home at Sun City Anthem, an age-qualified community in Henderson built by Del Webb. "We want to spend time together," Howe said. "Being with family in Nevada, as well as the lifestyle offered at Sun City Anthem prompted the move." Clubs and social activities at Anthem Center, a 77,363-square-foot facility, allow residents an environment to meet one another. It also offers a fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, walking tracks, tennis courts, bocce courts, as well as Trumpets Restaurant and Lounge, which is open to the public. "I'm looking forward to meeting new people and socializing," he said. Howe also plans to spend time on the two championship golf courses at The Revere at Anthem Golf Club. He purchased the Hancock model. "It just fit the bill," he said. "I like the size and layout of the house, and the home site has a nice panorama of the mountains and downtown Las Vegas." Sun City Anthem offers 19 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet. Prices start from the mid-$140,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway, follow the road to Alexandria Drive and follow the signs. Models are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
