Familiarity sells Chicagoans on Sun City Aliante
Mona and Sam Tortorice recently left Chicago to start a new life in Southern Nevada at Sun City Aliante, an age-qualified community in North Las Vegas. "We have been coming to Las Vegas for many years in our business and for pleasure," Mona Tortorice said. "We really enjoy it here and knew we wanted to live in a Sun City community." The Tortorices have been familiar with Del Webb's Sun City concept for years. Mona Tortorice's mother lived in one of the developer's communities in Florida and her friends live in one in Arizona. "I am at a time in my life when this is what I want," she said. "My likes and dislikes are different now and Sun City Aliante fits my lifestyle. I want to be with people my own age that I can have fun with and do things I enjoy." Tortorice said she believes age-qualified communities offer a good value for home buyers. "We certainly knew what we were getting with a Del Webb home and have not been disappointed," she said. "Everything is done for you at Sun City Aliante. Del Webb landscapes the front and back yards, installs the drip systems for plants, and even sets up a gas line for a grill in the back yard." She said she also was pleased with the company's Environments for Living building standards, which make homes more energy efficient by saving on heating and cooling needs. The Tortorices purchased a Heather plan, a 1,155-square-foot home with two bedrooms, two baths, a great room and a covered rear patio. The development is the age-qualified component of the Aliante master-planned community. It is being built around an 18-hole municipal golf course. Additional amenities will include a recreation center with tennis and bocce courts, a swimming pool, fitness center, and club and hobby rooms. Homes are priced from the low $160,000s to the mid-$240,000s. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Centennial Parkway, exit east to Sky Pointe Drive and turn right. Turn right at Frontage Road, then left onto Interstate 215. Exit at Aliante Parkway and go north. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
