Rancho Las Palmas nears closeout

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

Pardee Homes opened its Rancho Las Palmas community 17 years ago. It has proven popular over the years for several reasons.

"The community has been successful because it offers families the right home at the right price in the right location," sales executive Ray Landry said. "We wish we had more land to expand. It will be the end of an era when the last home is sold."

Obviously, the builder's sales agents and other representatives have been busy at Rancho Las Palmas over the years. In fact, several Pardee employees have purchased multiple homes within the 588-acre community in the southeastern valley.

Soon after buying her first of three homes in Rancho Las Palmas, Marti Marcus went to work as an agent for Pardee.

"It may sound trite but Pardee really does build a great home, and this has become a wonderful little community," said Marcus, who is handling sales at Stone Creek, one of only two neighborhoods that remain open in the community.

Marcus also resides in Stone Creek, where single- and two-story homes are available. Priced from $239,950 to $297,950, homes can built with as many as seven bedrooms, as well as family and bonus rooms in 3,844 square feet.

Eighteen-year Pardee employee Hazel Gotzinger, area closing services manager, is living in the second home that she purchased within the community, where she has lived for seven years.

"I used to drive seven miles to shop," Gotzinger said. "Now, everything is built up around us, including lots of friends and neighbors."

Four additional employees -- Jessica Lewis, Colleen Harrington, Richard and Pat Walmsley -- have also become Rancho Las Palmas homeowners. All except Harrington have purchased their second homes.

The last neighborhood to be built in Ranch Las Palmas is Tamarack, which recently celebrated its grand opening adjacent to the Stone Creek model park.

Buyers can choose from five floor plans offering as many as five bedrooms, three baths and tandem three-car garages. Homes measure from 1,431 to 2,892 square feet and are priced from $190,450 to $251,450. Workshops are optional.

All homes in both neighborhoods have been Energy Star-certified by the Environmental Protection Agency, and exceed national energy-efficiency standards by at least 30 percent.

Rancho Las Palmas will comprise roughly 3,200 homes at closeout. Resident amenities include an elementary school, Hidden Palms Park, a post office, shopping center and landscaped parkways, all behind a monument entry.

To visit Sand Creek and Tamarack, take Interstate 215 to Windmill Lane, turn right and proceed to Bermuda Road. Turn left at Bermuda, cross Pebble Road and follow the signs. The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily except Monday, when it opens at 11 a.m.

Pardee has built more than 25,000 homes in Southern Nevada since 1952.
