Family's search ends in Aliante

When ex-Californians Karen and Thomas Ford moved to Southern Nevada, they wanted to consider all their options before purchasing a home. In two days, Karen Ford drove 400 miles looking at every new home and neighborhood she could find before finding the right floor plan and lifestyle at the Aliante master-planned community in North Las Vegas.

"Thomas was attending a conference at the time, so I would videotape every home that I felt had potential so we could review the tapes together later on," she said. "I loved Aliante immediately and, based on what Thomas saw in the videos, we decided that Aliante would be the only community we would visit together. We agreed that it offered the perfect location, home and lifestyle for our family."

They selected a home at KB Home's San Destin Palazzo neighborhood.

"We were impressed by both the beauty and the versatility of the home we chose in San Destin. It has spacious living areas and good-sized bedrooms, including a huge master suite that extends the entire length of the house. We just liked everything about it," Karen Ford said.

Thomas Ford said they and their two children are looking forward to moving into the community.

The 1,905-acre community is a development of North Valley Enterprises, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Del Webb. It comprises all-ages and age-qualified villages with an anticipated population of about 20,000.

Astoria Homes, Del Webb, D.R. Horton, KB Home, Pardee Homes, Perma-Bilt Homes, Pulte Homes and US Home will build residences in the all-ages village, while Del Webb is developing the age-qualified Sun City Aliante.

Homes are priced from the low $200,000s to the $700,000s.

Nearly one-fourth of the community is designated for recreational and public purposes including the municipal Aliante Golf Club, 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, trails and an arroyo. Three schools also are planned.

About 100 acres are set aside for commercial development, including retail and business centers and a 40-acre resort with gaming.

An information center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to the Interstate 215 east exit. Proceed to Aliante Parkway exit then go south.
