Siena village designed for fitness
The Tuscan-style fitness center at the age-qualified Siena village in Summerlin is the site of resident exercise classes, including yoga. "Yoga is an ancient practice from India, but it is becoming one of America's hottest new exercise trends," community fitness director Wayne Ireland said. "Not only does it strengthen muscles and bones and improve flexibility, yoga fosters deep relaxation -- that's good for both body and soul." In addition to its exercise facilities, the community's 15,900-square-foot fitness center has private saunas and steam rooms. Its swim pavilion has a 25-meter indoor pool, a spa, a series of 15-foot murals and two-story arched windows overlooking the community's golf course, outdoor pool and spa, and lighted tennis courts. Another community amenity is a wellness center, which provides educational resources, seminars, health screenings and a video library. Destination Salon and Spa, a full-service beauty salon and day spa, offers a variety of therapeutic massages, sports therapy, reflexology and natural body treatments. "Residents tell us living in Siena is like being on vacation in a Palm Springs resort or European spa every day," Ireland said. "Because there is a guarded entry gate and security officers patrol neighborhoods 24-hours a day, we have a lot of residents walking or biking to recreational facilities. That is very convenient, since most people only have so much time to devote to their workout. But walking instead of driving to your health club or golf course is also a health bonus." Open on a daily-fee basis, a par-72, 18-hole championship golf course in the village takes advantage of the parcel's rolling terrain. One-third of the community's 1,900 homes will be built along the course. Siena residents are given special rates and preferred tee times. Homes in the Sunrise Colony Co. project are priced from the $160,000s up to $650,000. The 14 single-story floor plans range from 1,200 to 3,000 square feet. Buyers can select from five Mediterranean collections of home designs, all with a wide range of customizing options. Interior designers are available to assist buyers. To visit the community, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. Models are open from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily.
