Siena's landscape enhanced by proximity to mountains

The recent snowfall in the Spring Mountains west of the Siena age-qualified community created a rare scenic opportunity, according to Brad Church, head golf professional at the Tuscan-themed community's championship course.

"People commented many times about the beauty of the snow-white mountains -- a very rare occurrence indeed -- behind these emerald green fairways. Siena's grass has unusually good color this winter, thanks to the hard work of Greg Anderson, our GCSA golf course superintendent," Church said.

The par-72 course is open to the public on a daily-fee basis, however community residents receive special rates and preferred tee times.

Individual memberships are available for $5,000 a year, which includes a $500 food and beverage credit. Membership provides for complimentary green and cart fees, 14-day advance reservations, discounts on guest fees, unlimited use of the practice facility, charging privileges, and discounts on golf merchandise and professional golf lessons.

Corporate memberships are $17,500 a year, which includes a $2,500 food and beverage credit. Among the benefits of this package are complimentary green and cart fees and practice balls for five corporate members, 14-day advance reservations, discounts on guest fees, unlimited member use of the practice facility, discounts on two corporate golf tournaments, charging privileges, and discounts on golf shop merchandise and lessons from professionals.

The course ranges from 4,978 yards from the forward tees to 6,816 yards from the back tees.

One-third of the 1,900 homes will align the fairways. The single-story homes are priced from the mid-$150,000s to more than $650,000. Fourteen floor plans are available, ranging from 1,200 to 3,100 square feet. The design staff can assist buyers in selecting amenities such as casitas and courtyard fireplaces.

The community's 40,000-square-foot community center will feature arts and crafts facilities, meeting rooms, a library, ballroom and 400-seat theater, card and billiards rooms, and a computer and business center.

A social center offers craft and hobby classes, card and billiard rooms, and a special events area.

Its fitness center has an exercise room, saunas, steam rooms and an indoor lap pool. Outdoor recreational facilities include lighted tennis courts, bocce courts, a swimming pool and trails. An on-site wellness center, manned by the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center, offers free health seminars, screenings and a library.

Destination Salon and Spa within the fitness center offers a variety of therapeutic massages, sports therapy and reflexology. Natural body treatments include mineral or herbal body wraps and aromatherapy. It is also a full-service beauty salon.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south. The models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sunrise Colony Co. is also developing the Red Rock Country Club community in Summerlin.
