Sweepstakes winners pick Mill Creek home as prize
After winning their dream home in Pulte Homes' $250,000 Dream Home Sweepstakes, Michael and Jestine Taylor are settling into their new home at Mill Creek, a neighborhood within the Lynbrook community in the northwestern valley. The Taylors owned a Pulte-built home in Leesburg, Va., and after moving to Las Vegas, they began their search at the builder's developments in Southern Nevada. They were considering buying a home at Mill Creek when they found out they were finalists in the sweepstakes. More than 145,000 contestants entered the contest, which required them to look for the Pulte Homes parade float of the "Three Little Pigs" during the 74th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The key was to find out where the Big Bad Wolf character was on the float. "It was unbelievable to be a finalist, but I was in complete shock when they announced that I had won the sweepstakes during the raffle with the other finalists," Michael Taylor said. "My wife and I are overwhelmed and feel extremely blessed to own our dream home at Mill Creek." Taylor, who works as the manager of the Mentoring Program with the Clark County School District Partnership Programs, said they selected the Del Rey model, which features 3,589 square feet with five bedrooms, four baths, a game room, family room, formal living and dining areas, a kitchen with a nook, and a three-car garage. "The design and layout of the Del Rey was exactly what my wife and I needed for our family with plenty of room for entertaining," Taylor said. "Since my wife and I previously owned a Pulte home, I knew we were getting a quality-built, energy-efficient home that we would enjoy for years to come." The neighborhood's location impressed the couple. "We were impressed with the Lynbrook master plan from our first visit because it felt like a traditional community with private parks, beautiful landscaping and scenic views of the mountains," Jestine Taylor, a teacher, said. The neighborhood features five single- and two-story floor plans, ranging from 2,300 to 3,589 square feet with as many as seven bedrooms. Dens, hobby rooms and game rooms are optional. Prices begin at $195,990. Included with each home is a high-tech multimedia package that allows all phones, television and computers to be controlled from one central location. Other amenities include a covered patio, a front porch and/or courtyard, and prewiring for a security system. The homes have also acquired the Engineered for Life designation for such energy-efficiency features as ground-mounted air-conditioning units, gas heat, and blown-in cellulose insulation. Interiors feature vaulted ceilings in some plans, ceramic-tile entries, six-panel doors, ceiling fan prewiring, art niches in some plans, and prewiring for cable TV. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Ann Road, go east to Jones Boulevard, head north to Farm Road, turn right and follow the signs. The sales office is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Monday, when it opens at noon.
