Sun City Anthem opens `The Battlefield'
The Del Webb Corp. and Sun City Anthem residents recently celebrated the grand opening of The Battlefield, the practice field at The Revere at Anthem Golf Club. The 13-acre facility, located across the street from the still-under-construction The Revere Clubhouse, opened after a year of planning and four months of construction. The 330-yard practice field accommodates as many as 50 players at once. During the festivities, golfers competed in three contests: closest to the pin, straightest drive and guess the tees in the jar. "This is the type of quality practice field you would expect to see in Sun City Anthem: beautiful landscaping and striking views of the mountains, various simulated greens, plus a starter building and a putting green," senior project manager Craig Garhardt said. "It's also a perfect facility to complement The Revere at Anthem Golf Club and the community's second golf course, now under construction." "The Battlefield provides an excellent opportunity for golfers to sharpen their skills," Clay Meininger, director of golf, said. The Revere features a 7,143-yard, par-72, 18-hole championship golf course. The projected opening for the community's second golf course, measuring 7,050 yards, is early 2002. The age-qualified community in Henderson offers 15 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the community's Gold Key program. Prices range from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. The models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
