Red Rock marks clubhouse's anniversary
As the Las Vegas Valley was toasting the beginning of 2002 on Dec. 31, 2001, the membership of Red Rock Country Club was celebrating the first anniversary of the community's main clubhouse in Summerlin. "Our New Year's Eve celebration was a tremendous success with more than 200 of our members attending. The evening began with a cocktail hour featuring a mountain of shrimp and hot passed hors d'oeuvres. Dinner consisted of an elegant salad of crab and mango, followed by the entrée of filet mignon and lobster tail. A display of sumptuous French pastries and flaming strawberries served over homemade ice cream rounded out the spectacular menu," Nick Corey, clubhouse manager, said. Guests danced to a Brazilian band and raised their glasses at midnight as fireworks from the nearby driving range illuminated the sky. The celebration, however, did not stop at midnight. According to General Manager Thomas Gilbertson, the "Continue the Celebration" open house was held on New Year's Day to commemorate the clubhouse's first anniversary. The 44,000-square-foot clubhouse features views of the city and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and offers indoor and outdoor casual dining at The Oasis Grille and The Arroyo Room which serves as a venue for social gatherings and receptions. The facility also includes a board room, golf pro shop, locker rooms, saunas, steam rooms lounges and media center. Adjacent to the clubhouse is an 8,000-square-foot sports club that offers fitness equipment, saunas, steam rooms, an aerobics studio, massage therapy rooms, locker rooms and a supervised children's play center. Sunrise Colony plans to expand the sports club this year, more than doubling the size of its exercise room. Other amenities include an aquatic center that features several pools, a spa, children's splash-and-spray mini-park, and outdoor grill; and a tennis facility with nine lighted, hard-surface courts, including a stadium court. The country club is also home to two 18-hole championship golf courses designed by Arnold Palmer. The course is highlighted by a rugged terrain, canyons, lakes, waterfalls and streams. A practice facility with a double-ended driving range, a putting green and chipping areas is also featured. Many of the guard-gated community's 1,116 homes will be nestled along the greens of the courses. Priced from the $350,000s to more than $2 million, the one- and two-story design offer many as six bedrooms and four-car garages and range from 2,100 to more than 5,300 square feet. Buyers may consult with design staff at the builder's sales center and design studio and customize their homes through the Sunsation Program, which allows for structural changes, different room configurations or additions; construction of custom swimming pools; and upgraded landscaping, patio and lighting designs. Custom-home sites measuring from 15,000 to 20,000 square feet are available in The Estates, a gated neighborhood of 86 custom homes within the guard-gated community. Lots range from $315,000 to $500,000. To visit, take Sahara Avenue west past Town Center Drive and follow the signs. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara and go west. The sales center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunrise Colony Co. is also developing Siena, an age-qualified community in Summerlin.
