"The residents and staff have been seeing the exciting progress of this facility as it has been taking shape and we are all really anxious to have it open," said Barbara Laurienti, director of community management for the Neighborhood Association Group at Rhodes Ranch. "Our staff is definitely prepared for opening day ... It has been exciting to see the complex transform from a dirt lot to a start-of-the-art water park and pool complex."
According to Pete Rahill, senior project manager for Rhodes Design and Development, the developer is anticipating a March opening.
"Over the course of the next few weeks, there will be many things happening as we approach the end of this project," Rahill said. "The pools will be plastered, work will start on the two sand volleyball courts and we will begin construction on the four tennis courts."
The base layer of the outdoor basketball court has been installed.
Two playground structures have been completed and the water slides have been erected and tested. Most of the landscaping for the project has been installed, according to Rahill.
The Fun Zone will feature a 13,000-square-foot lagoon pool with wading areas; a 10,000-square-foot water park with three speed slides; five kid slides; rope bridges; multiple squirt gun stations and a 1,000- gallon bucket that fills and tips over every half hour.
It will include a 25-meter lap pool; two eight-person spas; a 12-person group spa; four covered cabanas; one exterior-lit basketball court; two sand volleyball court; four lite tennis courts; and children's play area with activity structures.
According to Laurienti, the water park and pools will be open from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Pre-registration for resident access to the facility will begin in March.
"We have a task force made up of homeowners working to develop the processes for admission to the water park and proper enforcement. They are working diligently to make sure the opening and running of the facility is successful," Laurienti said. "In addition to the task force, we have hired an aquatics manager who will supervise the lifeguards and assist in running the outdoor recreation area."
The R-Club at Rhodes Ranch opened in October 2005. The 35,000-square-foot recreation center includes an indoor workout facility, a full-length basketball court, two racquetball/handball courts, and six billiards tables.
The master plan is selling three neighborhoods -- The Collection, Palms Bay and Pacific Mist. Home prices start in the $300,000s.
Resident amenities include the par-72, signature Ted Robinson-designed 18-hole golf course.
The community is guard-gated with 24-hour roving security patrols.
To visit, take Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, to Durango Drive. Head south to Rhodes Ranch Parkway. The sales offices are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
