The Vistas proves popular in Summerlin
The Vistas village in Summerlin continues to be the center of sales activity. With 17 active neighborhoods, the village features more than 75 model homes displaying floor plans measuring from 1,251 to 4,100 square feet. Prices start from $149,990 to $533,975. "The Vistas is proving to be very popular amongst home buyers for a number of reasons, including its convenient location close to the western beltway, its elevated topography overlooking the Las Vegas Valley, a wide range of home styles and prices, and abundant amenities," said Dan Van Epp, president of The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. The 813-acre village, located west of the beltway, features north and south entries marked by 48-foot clock towers. It will contain 28 neighborhoods, most of which will be located along a central loop road bordered by a walkway. Retail centers are planned. Three parks are planned, including two smaller parks at the village's north and south entrances with playgrounds, picnic areas, restrooms and a play field. North Tower Park is nearing completion, while South Tower Park will be built this year. The Vistas Community Park will include playgrounds, picnic areas, football and baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, and a community center. Construction of the 25-acre park will also commence this year. Construction is planned for Linda Givens Elementary School. The two-story school, which is scheduled to open in 2004, is a prototype for the Clark County School District and is designed for the area's sloping topography. A worship site with an accompanying school is planned at the corner of Alta Drive and Desert Foothills Drive. Summerlin is home to eight golf courses, more than 100 neighborhood and village parks, 105 miles of trails, 17 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities, business parks, and nearly 165 model homes. Single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums are priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000. Custom-home sites ranging from one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre are priced from the $400,000s to more than $1 million. Predesigned custom homes are priced from $500,000 to more than $1 million. Apartments offer monthly rents starting from the high $700s. To visit the home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive and turn north. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara and head east to Town Center. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
