Pardee home to host tours

Pardee Homes will invite the public to tour the Nevada Trails residence that was designed for the ultimate in family living. The company will conduct tours of the home every Saturday and Sunday in February from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Families will marvel at the practicality, flexibility, character and charm of this home," said Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing for the builder. "When planning this home, we invited families, including several children, to share their ultimate dream home wishes with us and we've incorporated many of those wishes -- some realistic and others that were far out -- into the Ultimate Family Home."

The 5,300-square-foot residence is Spanish contemporary in style and features four bedrooms and 5 1/2 baths. Designated a zero-energy home, it is capable of producing as much electricity as it will use at certain times of the year, resulting in energy savings of about 90 percent compared to a similar home built to code, according to Mason.

"One of our favorite aspects of (the home) is its innovative home management center, which serves as `Grand Central Station' for the home with computer stations and plenty of space for homework, organizing and handling family activities and finances," Mason said.

Other elements include a tower loft that is a hideaway for kids to play video and board games, and an extended kitchen with a second dishwasher and microwave oven for kids to prepare after-school snacks.

On the cutting edge of energy-efficient and sustainable construction, the home is the kickoff for Pardee's Zero Energy Home program.

The builder is already incorporating the energy-saving technologies into its new neighborhoods in Nevada Trails.

To visit, take Interstate 215 to Rainbow Boulevard, go one mile south to Robindale Road and turn right.
