Metropolis moves dirt

Houston-based developer Randall Davis broke ground this week for Metropolis, a 20-story condominium development at the northeast corner of Desert Inn Road and Debbie Reynolds Drive.

The art deco-inspired project will comprise 71 luxury lofts and flats, and is 70 percent sold.

Remaining lofts measure from 2,480 to 3,155 square feet with 19-foot, 6-inch ceilings, while remaining flats range from 1,795 to 2,691 square feet with 10-foot, 10-inch ceilings. Prices start from $655,000 to $1.1 million.

McCarthy Building Cos. of Henderson is the general contractor and WPH Architecture of Las Vegas is the architect of record. Completion is expected in summer 2005.

The sales office at 360 E. Desert Inn Road is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
