Intrawest opens offices for MonteLago Village

Intrawest Corp. recently opened offices at Lake Las Vegas Resort, where the company is constructing MonteLago Village, a $500 million commercial and residential development.

The Old World-themed village will be a pedestrian-only experience with winding streets leading to plazas with specialty shops and cafes overlooking the resort's 320-acre lake.

MonteLago Village is planned to include 800 condominium units, 125,000 square feet of retail space and 50,000 square feet of office space. In addition, a 350-room Ritz-Carlton hotel will be built with a European-style casino and luxury spa.

Intrawest is developing the village in cooperation with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co., Cook Inlet Region Inc., Transcontinental Properties Inc. and Lake Las Vegas Joint Venture. The village is expected to open in fall 2002.

"MonteLago Village is an opportunity for Intrawest to apply its expertise in the most unique and energetic environment in North America," Sherri O'Boyle, director of sales and marketing, said recently.

"We believe MonteLago Village, when complete, will become a `must-visit' attraction for everyone visiting the Las Vegas and Lake Mead region," she said.

"Visitors will experience the advantages to lakeside living such as boating, sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and sport fishing. In addition, they'll be able to take advantage of world-class golf facilities, white sandy beaches, a mile of lakeside walkways and harborside boat docks that complete the experience of this authentic European atmosphere that will blend the best of Tuscany, Portofino and Monte Carlo."

Lake Las Vegas Resort is being developed in Henderson on 2,245 acres at an estimated cost of $5 billion.

To visit, take Interstate 515 to Lake Mead Drive and head east to Lake Las Vegas Parkway.

The reception center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
