"It is always a pleasure to welcome a new home builder to the community," said Peggy Chandler, senior vice president of community development for The Howard Hughes Corp., an affiliate of General Growth Properties and developer of Summerlin. "We are proud of our stable of quality home builders and welcome the contributions each builder makes to the community in terms of home styles, options, floor plans and unique features. Summerlin has long prided itself in a diverse offering of homes, so we look forward to adding Engle Homes to our list."
According to Cheryl Kypreos, division president of Engle Homes Nevada, new floor plans were designed for Ladera and created specifically for Summerlin.
The neighborhood will contain more than 600 homes, south of Tropicana Avenue and west of Hualapai Way.
Richmond American Homes and KB Home are also building within the new development. Combined, the three builders offer 17 floor plans measuring from 1,642 to 2,804 square feet.
The neighborhood will include two private parks with children's playgrounds and open lawn areas.
The Mesa Village is the community's southernmost village and encompasses about 500 acres. The village features desert contemporary architecture with entry monuments, stonework, back-lit metal signage and a dramatic color palette.
A 19-acre park is in the early phases of development with plans for tennis courts, a basketball court, tot lot, playground, covered picnic ramadas and three Little League baseball fields, one with stadium-style seating. In addition, Bishop Gorman High School's 187,000-square-foot campus is scheduled to open for the 2007-2008 school year.
Summerlin is located along the western rim of the Las Vegas Valley. The community is home to more than 93,000 residents, 100 neighborhood and village parks, more than 120 completed miles of trails systems and more than 20 public and private schools.
Homes are available in a variety of styles, from single-family homes to townhomes, condominiums and lofts. Prices begin from the high $100,000s to more than $1 million. Luxury apartment homes offer monthly rents starting from the $900s.
