Pardee partners with young artists

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

For the fifth consecutive year, Pardee Homes of Nevada presented savings bonds to the young artists who were the top 13 winners of the "Where I Live" arts competition.

A reception for the artists and their families was held Jan. 7 at The Venetian.

"While Pardee has built homes for more than 25,000 families in the Las Vegas Valley in the past 51 years, we are also dedicated to building communities, and that starts with support of students, teachers and schools," Ray Landry, assistant vice president of sales for Pardee, said at the reception.

About 500 people attended.

Winners of the contest, which drew entries from 32 elementary schools in Clark County, have their artwork on display through Monday in the convention area at The Venetian.

The colorful depictions of homes in Las Vegas are also featured in a 2003 calendar published by the Nevada Housing Division.

"We are all winners," Landry said. "Every one of the 1,570 students who submitted entries, and their teachers who inspired them, are saying that Southern Nevada is a great place to live. We couldn't agree more."

Pardee partnered with the Housing Division, Clark County School District's School-Community Partnership Program, The Venetian, Nevada State Bank, Southern Nevada Home Builders Association, Piero's, Houdini's Magic Shop and the Real Estate section of the Las Vegas Review-Journal and Sun in sponsoring the competition and the awards program.
