KB Home builds `upside-down' designs

KB Home offers a Southwestern-style home with an "East Coast kick," according to representatives for the company. The idea turns traditional Las Vegas homes upside down.

The idea is a floor plan with the main living rooms upstairs and the secondary bedrooms on the ground floor. Often referred to as an "upside down house," the entry to this design is located at a midway landing between the floors.

"It's something unique to the area. Most home shoppers in the valley are accustomed to seeing a more Western layout. We're happy to offer them something different," said Leah Bryant, president of KB Home Las Vegas division.

The ground floor includes three bedrooms and a bonus room along with a bath, laundry room and two-car garage. The top floor consists of the kitchen, dining room and great room, as well as the master bedroom and master bath. The floor plan measures 2,312 square feet and is offered at three subdivisions: Iron Mountain Ranch, Goldrush and Tierra Linda.

At Iron Mountain Ranch, where it is priced in the $170,000s, the floor plan is called the Bandana and is part of the Mesa series homes. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Ann Road, head east to Jones Boulevard, go north to Grand Teton Drive, then drive east to Topaz Ravine Drive, turn right and follow the signs. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. except Friday, when it opens at 11 a.m.

The design is called Overlander at Goldrush, where it starts in the $180,000s. To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 to Cheyenne Avenue and head west. Go north on Tenaya Way, drive west on Alexander Road and follow the signs. The models are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily except Friday, when they open at 11 a.m.

At Tierra Linda neighborhood, the Cantabria design is part of the Pueblo series and starts in the high $180,000s. To visit, take Interstate 15 to St. Rose Parkway and head east to Las Vegas Boulevard. Go north to Barbara Lane and follow the signs. The models are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily except Friday, when they open at 11 a.m.

KB Home provides one-stop shop shopping at its design studio, which is located at 7440 S. Industrial Road, Suite 201. The builder also operates a mortgage company and home finding center in the same location.
