KB Home assists Rebuilding charity

KB Home and its subcontractors recently began renovating and upgrading offices for Rebuilding Together with Christmas in April.

The builder and its affiliates will modify a three-bedroom home built in the 1940s in the downtown Las Vegas area.

"This is a dream come true and it wouldn't be possible without the tremendous support of KB Home," said Keith Lane, executive director for organization's local chapter.

He said the home, which the charity purchased in May, required renovation to meet city codes, as well as the organization's needs.

"There's a lot of work to be done," said Rick Lawley, KB Home senior vice president of operations, Las Vegas division, who is organizing and scheduling the work on the project. "Our subcontractors are volunteering their time to get the work done. We have a dozen different companies, from framers to electricians to plumbers. It's a great team effort."

In addition, the builder and its subcontractors raised $20,000 for the organization during a golf tournament last summer.

The local chapter of Rebuilding, part of a national organization, helps low-income homeowners live in warmth, safety and independence by providing emergency repairs, modifying homes for the physically impaired, renovating homes in the unincorporated areas of Clark County, and repairing or maintaining homes for those who are physically unable.

The organization also sponsors an annual event, generally held the last Saturday in April, during which volunteers help rebuild and renovate homes for those in need.

The builder offers one-stop shopping at its design studio, where buyers may select options and upgrades. Potential buyers can receive free financial advice, including credit reports, and assistance locating a new home at more than 20 subdivisions. The facility is located at 7440 S. Industrial Road, Suite 201, just south of Warm Springs Road.

KB Home, one of the nation's largest home builders, also operates in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina and Texas.

It also maintains a full-service mortgage company.
