Siena touts range of activities

With the imagination of activities manager Kristyne Blake, residents of the Siena age-qualified village have a broad choice of year-round events, tours, parties and trips to join.

"We are very proud of the variety of activities we have been able to offer our residents through our Siena Signature Events series -- everything from on-site Oscar Night celebrations and holiday potlucks to tours of local points of interest and even a trip to Siena, Italy," Blake said.

About five events and at least five craft-type classes are scheduled through the community's social center every month. Residents go to local sporting events, cultural outings, and tours of places such as Bonnie Springs Ranch, the Community College of Southern Nevada Planetarium and Black Canyon.

"The events at Siena are a wonderful way to meet your neighbors and new friends," said resident Suellen Levy, who attends many of the social events and is a member of the Resident Welcome Committee.

"There are some great events in store for our residents during 2002," Blake said, mentioning a skiing trip, museum visit and other events planned this month.

The age-qualified village is located within Summerlin in the southwestern valley. Within its guarded gates, residents have access to recreational and social activities such as golf, swimming, dancing, bocce, tennis, craft clubs and social groups.

An 18-hole, daily-fee golf course winds its way throughout the private community. Although the course is open to all ages, residents receive special rates and preferred tee times.

The community's fitness center features an indoor swim pavilion with a 25-meter pool, spa and series of two-story windows overlooking the golf course. There is also exercise equipment and rooms, saunas, steamrooms, an outdoor pool and spa, and lighted tennis and bocce courts. The facility also houses a wellness center, beauty salon and day spa.

A separate social center is home to a computer lab, billiards and card rooms, and a sewing center. The center includes Blake's office and is also the setting for a variety of classes and club gatherings.

Homes at the 665-acre community are priced from the $140,000s to the $650,000s. Six Italian-themed collections feature 18 single-story floor plans ranging from 1,040 to 3,100 square feet.

Each plan offers three exterior designs and a range of design options, such as courtyard fireplaces and casitas with separate entrances. Interior designers are available to assist home buyers.

The newest residential offering, the Siena Villas, debuted early this month. The villas feature four townhome floor plans that range from 1,040 to 1,378 square feet. Prices start from the $140,000s.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office and model homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
