Siena golf course draws buyers

SPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE

The Siena Golf Club has attracted both golfers and nongolfers to Siena, an age-qualified village in Summerlin where nearly one-third of the home sites overlook the course.

"(It) is one of the big reasons buyers purchase in Siena," sales executive Jimmy Jones said. "We have numerous residents who aren't even golfers, but they enjoy the golf community lifestyle and the continual beauty that the course provides."

Clay Meininger, general manager and director of golf, said some of the course's turf was recently replaced with desert landscaping, prompting recognition by the Southern Nevada Water Authority.

"We are proud to be doing our part in this vital conservation effort, and our players are behind us 100 percent. The turf modifications have also helped the course achieve a contrasting blend of desert and turf which complement Siena's extraordinary mountain and city views," Meininger said.

The 18-hole, par-72 championship course opened for public play in 2000 and welcomes golfers of all ages. Siena residents, however, are offered special rates and preferred tee times.

"We were recently honored by the public as the Reader's Choice for Best Value in the 2003 VegasGolfer Fairway Awards. We also had the honor of hosting the USGA Women's Amateur Qualifier for 2003," Meininger said.

Anchoring the course is a clubhouse offering a pro shop and a full-service restaurant with indoor and patio dining. The restaurant is also available for special gatherings.

"Our facilities can accommodate everything from small group golf outings to corporate golf tournaments and intimate affairs to full-scale weddings," Meininger said. "Whatever the need, we can usually be of service."

Siena is a Sunrise Colony Co. development on 665 acres in the southwestern valley. It will comprise about 2,000 homes at buildout.

Buyers can choose from 17 single-story floor plans, measuring from 1,040 to nearly 3,200 square feet. Each plan in the six Italian-themed collections offers three exterior designs and a range of customizing options, including some plans with courtyard fireplaces and casitas with separate entrances. A design studio is on-site.

Residences are priced from the $190,000s to the $490,000s plus home-site premiums.

"Within its guarded gates, private streets, and patrolled neighborhoods, Siena's residents have access to an unparalleled variety of recreational and social activities to enjoy," Jones said.

The 38,000-square-foot community center hosts various social activities. It is highlighted by a ballroom that can accommodate 500 people in theater seating or 300 people for a dinner/dance. Also featured is an arts and activities area with a computer learning center; painting facility; sewing and quilting center; an area for fine arts and ceramics; a music room; and rooms for billiards, cards, darts and shuffleboard. Other amenities include a business center, meeting rooms, offices and a library.

The health and fitness center features indoor and outdoor swimming pools, spas, and lighted tennis and bocce courts in addition to exercise equipment, saunas and steam rooms, a full-service beauty salon, and a wellness center run by Summerlin Hospital Medical Center.

To visit, take Sahara Avenue or Interstate 215 to Town Center Drive and go south to Siena Monte Avenue. The sales office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
