Downsizers pick Solera at Anthem
Diane Meireis considered her upcoming retirement, and believed purchasing a home in the Solera at Anthem age-qualified community with her husband, Craig, was the right thing to do. "As you get closer to retirement, there comes a time when you consider what your needs are going to be," she said. "We decided to downsize and gain the amenities a Del Webb community offers." Solera is located within the Anthem master-planned community in Henderson. Residents can enjoy amenities such as a fitness center, swimming pool, club and hobby rooms, billiard tables, tennis courts, computer and craft rooms, and bocce. "We are both very active, and do a lot of hiking, biking and strength training," Diane Meireis said. "I like being close to the mountains. We won't have to load our bikes into the car, we can just go out the front door." Craig Meireis also enjoys golf, and he can get his swings at the Revere at Anthem Golf Club in nearby Sun City Anthem. It features the Lexington, a 7,143-yard, par-72, 18-hole championship golf course, and the Concord, which measures 7,050 yards. The couple, who moved from Apple Valley, Calif., selected the Franklin model, one of five home plans offered at the community. The plan measures 1,771 square feet and features three bedrooms, two baths, a great room and dining room. They chose the location to be closer to their son, daughter-in-law, and 6-month-old twin grandsons. "They live in Henderson, only five miles from our new home in Solera," Meireis said. "In fact, they recommended Solera, and after we saw the community, we didn't even look anywhere else." All homes offer options and upgrades such as ceramic flooring, ceiling fans and nooks. The builder's Environments for Living program is also a standard feature in all of the homes. Energy-saving features abound, such as low-e windows, a cocoon insulation system, and heating and cooling sealants that exceed Energy Star requirements. A heating and cooling energy-use guarantee is also part of the program. "I like that these homes are energy efficient," Meireis said. "You don't want all your retirement money going toward utility bills." Solera at Anthem offers homes ranging from 1,140 to 1,771 square feet, and priced from the mid-$230,000s to the low $300,000s. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, three miles past St. Rose Parkway, to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Somersworth Drive, following the signs. The sales center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
