Sun City Anthem introduces driving range

The anticipation will soon be over for residents of Sun City Anthem, Del Webb Corp.'s age-qualified community at the foothills of Henderson's Black Mountain. The community's driving range is scheduled to open later this month.

"Sun City Anthem's driving range will provide an excellent opportunity for golfers to sharpen their skills," Clay Meininger, director of golf, said.

"The driving range experience is an ideal leisure pastime. It's great recreation and fun, and you feel good about improving your game."

The 13-acre facility is complete after a year of planning and four months of construction. The last step is for the turf to grow in. The 330-yard driving range will accommodate about 50 players at one time.

"This will be the type of quality driving range you would expect to see in Sun City Anthem -- beautiful landscaping and striking views of the mountains, marked targets over the range, plus a starter shack and a putting green," Craig Garhardt, senior project manager, said.

"It's also a perfect facility to complement The Revere golf club and the community's second golf course, now under construction."

The range is near Anthem Parkway and Hampton Road, across from the future Revere Clubhouse, scheduled for completion by the end of 2001 or early 2002. The range is also close to The Revere; the community's second golf course, scheduled for completion in late 2001 or early 2002; and the 75,000-square-foot Anthem Center.

A tunnel under Hampton Road connects The Revere to the starter shack and driving range.

"The layout was carefully planned to ensure convenience for our residents," Garhardt said. "Many residents travel throughout the community in their golf carts, and the amenities are easily accessible for them."

Fifteen floor plans are available at the community, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and priced from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway. Models are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
