Residents of Rhodes Ranch participated in a Fitness Fair this holiday season in the atrium at The R-Club, Rhodes Ranch's recreation center. In addition to such featured events and community seminars, the 35,000-square-foot facility offers group classes such as Pilates, yoga, body sculpting, ab blast, step and kickboxing in its group exercise room.
The center opened in 2005 and is located within the master-planned community in the southwest part of the valley.

"We put this event together primarily to get information to the homeowners about the many fitness options available at The R-Club at Rhodes Ranch," said Amy Schouten, fitness manager for The R-Club at Rhodes Ranch. "We had all kinds of health and fitness professionals on hand to talk with residents. Many of the participating residents were able to take some important health and fitness information home with them as well."
According to Schouten, residents were able to get free body fat testing and blood pressure checks. Several area health or fitness-based businesses and organizations were also on-hand.
"We had representatives from Go Fast Energy Drink and Arbonne Consultants there as well as a registered dietician," Schouten said. "Several personal trainers and group exercise instructors were also available to talk about their training programs and classes. The turnout for this event was better than we could have expected."
The center offers an indoor workout facility with weights and cardiovascular equipment, a full-length basketball court, two racquetball/handball courts and six billiards tables. In addition to fitness amenities, the facility includes social areas featuring three fireplaces with couches, tables and chairs.
There are plans for a 13,000-square-foot lagoon pool with wading areas, a 10,000-square-foot water park with three speed slides, five kid slides, rope bridges, multiple squirt gun stations and a 1,000 gallon bucket that fills and tips over every half hour. The community's Fun Zone will also include a 25 meter lap pool; two eight-person spas; a 12-person group spa; four large covered cabanas; one exterior lighted basketball court; two sand volleyball courts; four lighted tennis courts and a children's play area with activity structures.
Residents have access to the par-72, signature Ted Robinson-designed 18-hole golf course within the guard-gated community.
