-- Pulte Homes named Sheryl Palmer as Nevada area president. She worked for Del Webb Corp. from 1989 to 1992 and started with Pulte in 2000. Palmer was named president of the Arizona Active Adult Division in September 2002, and was appointed to her new position in October 2003.

-- The Las Vegas chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management elected Kenneth W. Fong as its 2004 president. The chapter also elected its 2004 officers: Kathy Stubbs, vice president-membership; Linda Bradley, secretary; Diane Mancroft, treasurer; and Angel Marks-Denning, ARM coordinator.

-- TPC at The Canyons in Summerlin will host the fifth annual Canyon Celebrity Golf Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 10. The event benefits the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

-- The Las Vegas chapter of the American Marketing Association has created a position dedicated to reaching out to the Southern Nevada nonprofit community. The Las Vegas Community Outreach effort is headed by Joan Bryna Michelson, president and CEO of Michelson/Cooper Marketing.

-- The Southern Nevada Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties reached a milestone with the addition of its 500th member, making it the sixth largest chapter in the nation. Gov. Kenny Guinn is scheduled to address the group at its Jan. 15 meeting.

-- Geotechnical & Environmental Services has been awarded a contract by the city of Las Vegas to perform construction testing and observation at the site of a new 157-acre park, located north of Summerlin Parkway between Buffalo Drive and Rampart Boulevard. The park will be built in two phases with a groundbreaking expected this month. Project costs are estimated at $10 million. Bob Thomsen will be project engineer.
