Solera's amenities impress buyers
The list of included features in homes in Solera at Anthem played a big part in Jim and Marti Towns' decision to purchase at Del Webb's age-qualified community in Henderson. "There are a lot of extras. For example, ceiling fans in the bedrooms and the living room, prewiring for an alarm system, and most appliances are included," Jim Towns said. Also included are telephone and cable connections in every room, Corian counter tops, raised-panel cabinets, and garage door openers. The couple moved to Las Vegas three years ago from St. Petersburg, Fla., where Jim Towns worked for a builder. "I've never seen anyone do the job that Del Webb does," said Towns, a Florida native. "Not only are there a lot of extras in these homes, but they are well-insulated and energy efficient." All homes have energy-saving features such as low-e windows, cocoon insulation, and heating and cooling sealants that exceed the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star requirements. The Towns purchased a 1,591-square-foot Whitney plan with two bedrooms, two baths, a great room and den. "She likes that our new home is one level. She also loves the kitchen design and appliances," Jim Towns said of his wife, a registered nurse. Planned community amenities include a recreation and fitness center with a swimming pool, club and hobby rooms, billiard tables, tennis and bocce courts, and computer and craft rooms. "We are looking forward to the fitness center and walking paths," Jim Towns said. The community, part of the Anthem master plan, offers five floor plans ranging from 1,140 to 1,771 square feet. Prices start from the mid-$220,000s to the low $300,000s. To visit, take Eastern Avenue south to Anthem Parkway, turn left and proceed to Somersworth Drive. The sales center is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
