The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, conducted a survey to determine popular amenities at the community, and residents chose the trail system as their favorite, with open lawn areas and park areas coming in second and third, respectively.
"It's no surprise that Summerlin's trail system tops the list," said Kevin Orrock, top division executive at the corporation. "Today, there are more than 120 miles of completed trails. When Summerlin's built, that number will top 200 miles, giving residents even more reasons to love their community. The trails are used for walking, running, cycling and even socializing. When you're on the trail in your neighborhood, you're bound to run into neighbors and friends who are also enjoying the opportunity to stroll and enjoy the outdoors in their own backyard."

According to Orrock, nearly 70 percent of respondents use the walking trails and jogging paths at least once every few weeks, while 50 percent use the open lawn areas and 41 percent frequent a Summerlin park every few weeks.
Community centers and programmed parks and playgrounds also scored high on the list.
"Summerlin's toughest critics are its residents," Orrock said. "That's what makes the survey findings even more compelling," he said.
Survey results also cited Summerlin's "reputation" as the top reason residents chose the community. The environment, location and home floor plans ranked second, third and fourth, respectively.
The latest survey also said that Summerlin residents participate in events planned by The Summerlin Council, the nonprofit arm of the Summerlin Community Association dedicated to the social, cultural and recreational enrichment of residents.
The Fourth of July festivities received the highest participation rate, followed by the Friday Night Live summertime concert series and the holiday event, Festival of Lights.
Residents also ranked the community association's services as very important, especially in terms of reinforcing and maintaining the community's overall appearance; maintaining street landscapes, community centers and parks; preserving architectural standards; and enforcing community restrictions.
