North Tower Park debuts in Summerlin

The first major park in The Vistas village in Summerlin has been completed. North Tower Park is situated on 7 acres at the northern entrance to the village, which is the first in the master-planned community to be developed west of Interstate 215.

"The park was intentionally designed as an open area for residents to use as they desire," said Dan Van Epp, president of The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin. "While many of Summerlin's major parks are designed for specific sports or recreational uses, such as soccer or softball, North Tower Park is multipurpose."

A 48-foot clock tower overlooks the park's two playgrounds, group picnic area and open play areas.

North Tower Park is one of 105 neighborhood and village parks currently open in Summerlin.

"The goal of the Summerlin park master plan is to meet a variety of recreational needs for residents of all ages and interests," Van Epp said. "Because of their broad appeal and diverse nature, parks and trails have long eclipsed golf courses as the most significant recreational amenity in most communities, including Summerlin."

A similar park, South Tower Park, is under construction at the southern end of the The Vistas village.

Construction is slated to begin this year on a third park, The Vistas Community Park. At 25 acres, it is planned to include play areas, picnic areas, Summerlin's first football field, baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts, and a community center.

There are 18 actively selling neighborhoods, represented by more than 75 model homes, within the village. Homes are priced from $149,990 to $533,975, and range from 1,251 to 4,100 square feet.

Summerlin aligns the western edge of the Las Vegas Valley, and is comprised of villages. Community amenities include eight golf courses, more than 100 miles of trails, 18 schools, houses of worship, shopping centers, medical facilities, cultural facilities and business parks.

About 165 model homes are open, showcasing single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums priced from the mid-$100,000s to more than $700,000.

Custom-home sites from one-half acre to three-quarters of an acre in The Ridges are priced from the high $400,000s to more than $1 million, and predesigned custom homes are priced from $1.7 million. Apartments feature monthly rents starting from the high $700s.

To visit the home finding center, travel west on Sahara Avenue past Hualapai Way to Town Center Drive and turn north. Or, take Interstate 215 to Sahara, head east to Town Center and turn north. Office hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
