Pardee's show home opens for public tours
Pardee's Ultimate Family Home in Nevada Trails is open for tours on weekends through March 21. Tours are offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today and Sunday, with proceeds benefitting HomeAid Southern Nevada, which provides transitional shelter for the temporarily homeless. The southwestern valley show home was built for the recent International Builders' and Consumer Electronics shows. "When planning this home, we invited families, including several children, to share their ultimate dream home wishes with us and we've incorporated many of those wishes -- some realistic and others that were far-out -- into the Ultimate Family Home," marketing executive Joyce Mason said. "The end result is a home that is a great example of how families want to live." Measuring 5,300 square feet, the four-bedroom, 5 1/2-bath, Spanish contemporary design is a zero-energy home capable of producing as much electricity as it will use, resulting in energy savings of about 90 percent compared to a similar home built to code. "One of our favorite aspects of the Ultimate Family home is its innovative home management center, which serves as `Grand Central Station' for the home with computer stations and plenty of space for homework, organizing and handling family activities and finances," Mason said. Other features include a tower loft, and an extended kitchen with a second dishwasher and microwave oven. Mason also pointed out the design's ability to adapt as a family changes, noting that a downstairs den/office can extend a guest suite into a residence for additional family members. Outdoor amenities on the one-half acre home site include a sports court, covered pavilion with built-in televisions, gas fireplace, fire pit, two grills, and a tree house with a water slide into the pool. The home kicks off the builder's participation in the Department of Energy's Zero Energy Home program. Energy-efficient and sustainable technologies featured in the home are available in designs at the builder's Palo Verde and Mesquite neighborhoods in the community. Additionally, Nevada Trails has more than 20 acres of walking paths and parks. To visit, take Interstate 215 to Rainbow Boulevard, go one mile south to Robindale Road and turn right. Pardee has built homes for more than 25,000 families in Southern Nevada since 1952.
