New Yorker sees juhl in future

As a first-time home buyer, Lily Singh was selective to be sure, especially since her home purchase would also earmark the city in which she plans to retire.

The 58-year-old New Yorker is still a few years away from leisure living, but had a long-time dream to one day retire in Las Vegas. So when the opportunity presented itself to purchase a loft in juhl, a mid-rise mixed-use development in downtown Las Vegas, she jumped at the chance.

"I guess you could say I knew what I wanted because in a sense I really did not shop around a lot," Singh said. "I have a friend who works for CityMark, the developer of juhl, and when I heard about the floor plans, the amenities and the location, I knew I had to act quickly or lose out. I'm glad I did."

Singh, who has resided in New York for nearly 20 years, makes frequent visits to Las Vegas and says she fell in love with the Nevada climate, mountain backdrop and energy of the city itself.

"There's something about Las Vegas that is magical," she said. "I'm thrilled that I'm going to be living downtown in the heart of the excitement. juhl's location is just perfect. I can't wait to move in."

Singh selected a studio loft on the fourth floor. She looks forward to enjoying the building's amenities such as the pool and fitness center.

"I have lived on my own for some time and always rented. Now I am excited to become a homeowner, especially in a building as nice as this one."

Located at the corner of Bonneville Avenue and Fourth Street, the development is in the city core, surrounded by courthouses, law firms, boutiques, restaurants and night life. More than 100 designs, each offering design flexibility, are available within the project's five buildings.

The residences range from 600 to 2,500 square feet. The one- and two-story floor plans include flats, mid-rise and high-rise lofts, townhouses and penthouses.

Interiors include floor-to-ceiling windows, exposed mechanical and concrete surfaces, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, high-speed Internet access, kitchens with granite counters, maple cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and balconies. Optional walls are available.

Prices start from the mid-$200,000s.

"I'm thrilled that I'm going to be living downtown in the heart of the excitement."
