Family chooses home at Vineyards

When Summerlin residents Ann Marie and Mark Peters were ready to buy a larger home, they had a good idea of which builder they would choose.

"We had heard that Christopher Homes was one of the best ... so we included their neighborhoods on our list," Ann Marie Peters said. "When we visited the Vineyards neighborhood, we found exactly what we were looking for. But just to be sure that we were making the right decision, we also took the time to look at many other neighborhoods throughout the Las Vegas Valley. Ultimately, Vineyards was still our favorite choice, as it offered far more elegance and value, as well as the excellent Summerlin location."

Priced from the high $300,000s, the guard-gated neighborhood of one- and two-story homes offers one-quarter acre to one-third acre terraced home sites in The Arbors village. Four floor plans are available, ranging from 3,072 to more than 5,000 square feet.

"It does cost a little more to live in Summerlin, but we feel that it is definitely worth it, especially for a family like ours," Mark Peters said.

"We like the idea of having a comprehensive master plan with parks, trails, landscaped open space areas and year-round, family-oriented activities and events."

The family selected the Rothschild model, a two-story home with four bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths, a library, three-car garage and 3,886 square feet.

"The Rothschild model was perfect for us," Ann Marie Peters said. "We love that the living areas are well-defined, such as the separate living room and dining room, which gives the home a more formal feel. We also like the large eating nook, which overlooks our back yard. The kitchen is spacious and elegant, yet functional, with a walk-in pantry, lots of counter space and plenty of cabinets."

Peters was also impressed by the service provided at the builder's design center.

"Our interior designer was very helpful and professional," she said. "It was very convenient to have so many samples right at hand and to work with an expert who could create a nice selection of color palettes for us to consider. She made wonderful suggestions and we were able to decorate our home beautifully, while staying within our budget."

The European-style neighborhood features a private linear park with plazas, landscaping, fountains and benches.

The home designs incorporate motor courts, balconies, and courtyards with fireplaces.

Hundreds of design options are available, including casitas, secondary owner suites, extra bedrooms and baths, bonus rooms, libraries and wet bars.

To visit the neighborhood, take Summerlin Parkway to Town Center Drive, and go south. Turn right on Hualapai Way and proceed to Laurelglen Drive.

The sales office and model homes are open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
