Landscape complements Christopher Collection

The landscape at The Christopher Collection complements both the architecture of the homes as well as the Southern Highlands Golf Club, according to Bob Stone, vice president at NUVIS Landscape Architects, which designed the landscape at the neighborhood in the southwestern valley.

"One of our first goals was to create a design that would harmonize with the overall Tuscan theme of the community," Stone said.

"This is first evident at the entry, which is highlighted by a formal plaza area with date palm trees, stone pavement, water features and a garden. We also created distinctive designs for the courtyard and garden areas of the model homes, making each of them a unique experience and a strong memory point for visitors."

Stone said a key aspect of the landscape plan was expressed early in the design process by J. Christopher Stuhmer, chairman of Christopher Homes.

"Chris Stuhmer wanted to create not just a neighborhood on a golf course, but a neighborhood that would feel as though it was part of the golf course or carved out of the golf course," he said. "To accomplish this, we incorporated pine trees and other plant materials seen on the golf course, literally wrapping them around the homes and creating a sense that the neighborhood is enveloped by the golf course."

The Christopher Collection will comprise 98 homes and 16 residential designs, ranging from 3,000 to more than 6,200 square feet and priced from the mid-$400,000s to the high $600,000s. Home sites average about one-quarter acre, and many offer views of the golf course, city or mountains.

Buyers can choose from five single-story plans; three two-story designs with main-level owner suites; and eight two-story plans with upstairs owner suites.

Customizing options include elevators, motor courts, courtyard fireplaces, casitas, four-car garages, extra baths, bonus rooms, libraries, wine cellars and wet bars.

The builder's architectural designer and interior designers are available to assist buyers.

Southern Highlands Golf Club is a guard-gated community that provides a security patrol and concierge services. Parks and recreational facilities are planned.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to the Lake Mead Drive exit and go west, following the signs. The sales office and models are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
