Sun City Anthem trainer stresses fitness

Sun City Anthem resident Maxine Oishan needed advice on health and fitness, and consulted Mickey Hansel, a personal trainer at the age-qualified community in Henderson.

"She's just wonderful. She's taught me how to use many of the machines at the Anthem Center, which is a fabulous facility," Oishan said of Hansel. "My blood pressure has come down significantly since I began my training."

The community's 75,000-square-foot recreational facility, Anthem Center, offers fitness, social and dining amenities. Inside, the fitness center offers an array of cardiovascular and resistance workout equipment.

Also featured is an indoor pool with six lap lanes, a spa and a second-story walking track.

"Many residents devote time to health and fitness, and they have the fitness facilities and resources to help them achieve their personal goals," Hansel said.

Hansel also teaches golf conditioning. In addition, the center offers yoga, tai chi, stretch and relaxation classes, as well as one-on-one sport specific training.

Couples can also receive instruction, and at-home training is available for all residents.

Also, as part of a cooperative agreement with nearby St. Rose Dominican Hospital, the community features a wellness center.

The Revere at Anthem Golf Club is the first of three planned golf courses. The 7,143-yard, par-72, 18-hole championship course was designed by architect Greg Nash and signed by PGA Hall-of-Famer Billy Casper.

Del Webb Corp. is developing Sun City Anthem within its 5,000-acre Anthem master-planned community in the foothills of Black Mountain.

Buyers can choose from 15 models, ranging from 1,080 to 3,009 square feet and more through the community's Gold Key program.

Home prices range from the high $130,000s to more than $500,000.

To visit, take Eastern Avenue south, two miles past St. Rose Parkway.

The sales office and model homes are open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
