Gala event marks Pardee's anniversary

Pardee Homes of Nevada celebrated its first 50 years of building homes in Southern Nevada with a few hundred friends last weekend in Eldorado Highlands. In a program moderated by former U.S. Senator Richard Bryan, Pardee was honored as Southern Nevada's longest-established home builder and community developer.

The event featured a performance by the Antonello Singers from the Lee Antonello Elementary School in Eldorado, which was named for a Pardee executive, and Las Vegas Lounge legend Tommy Deering. A video was shown, featuring several community leaders who shared their memories of living in Pardee homes. They included U.S. Senator John Ensign, Congresswoman Shelley Berkley, Lt. Gov. Lorraine Hunt and former Gov. Bob Miller.

Pardee President Mike McGee cut a giant 50th anniversary cake with a bronzed saw, and toasted the employees and friends who had contributed to the company's success.

"It is appropriate that our 50th anniversary party takes place in North Las Vegas, where the Pardee brothers -- George, Hoyt and Doug -- became pioneers in this community," McGee said.

Since 1952, Pardee has built homes for more than 25,000 families in Southern Nevada, and currently offers 16 new neighborhoods with a range of product and prices.

In addition to Eldorado, Pardee is developing Rancho Las Palmas in southeast Las Vegas and Nevada Trails in the southwestern valley. The builder is also active in Green Valley and Seven Hills.
