After struggling with health issues last year, Tom Webb, a U.S. Navy veteran, traded his apartment in Santa Barbara, Calif. for a home at the Cottages of Green Valley.
"They treat me wonderfully," said Webb, who will celebrate his 82nd birthday Feb. 25.

"I stay busy with the activities from day to day. We play bingo every day and we also exercise almost every day. I think I'm stronger now because of it."
The assisted-living and memory-care community is located at 2620 Robindale Road, just west of Pecos Road in Henderson.
The facility organizes outings to casinos, parks and other sightseeing spots.
Other activities include visits from Las Vegas entertainers, bingo, educational lectures and classes and holiday celebrations.
"We have been to Hoover Dam," Webb said. "I saw it for the first time when I was 15 years old. Needless to say, it's grown up a bit. We always made sure we stopped to see the dam over the years."
Speakers will talk to the residents March 22 from 9 a.m. until noon.
The community is open to visitors from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. daily. Scheduled evening tours are also available. For more information, call 992-0000 or visit cottagesgv.com.
