University Medical Center (UMC) psychiatry resident Erv Edge said he chose a loft-style condominium at Newport Lofts because of the rooftop running track and central location.
The 23-story residential tower, now in its final phase of construction, is located in the Las Vegas arts district between the Strip and downtown.

"Newport Lofts is just a few minutes from the hospital," said Edge, who plans to practice in Las Vegas after completing the final 2 1/2 years of his residency. "I would never want to commute 45 minutes, waste my time driving and get my blood pressure up over traffic."
He said he also liked the new project's features.
"The amenities deck will have the kind of European fitness equipment I want to use. That really agrees with me," he said. "I guarantee I'll take my daily runs on the rooftop track instead of driving to a health club to get in a workout."
Edge selected a single-story loft on the 17th floor. It offers 1,579 square feet of interior living space and a 148-square-foot wrap-around terrace overlooking the Las Vegas Strip and entire western valley.
"I'll have a view of the Stratosphere and Strip from my bedroom area and a view of practically everything else in the valley, including UMC, from my living area and terrace," Edge said.
California-based Seegmiller Partners is developing Newport Lofts along with Sam Cherry Development, headquartered in Las Vegas.
Interiors are finished with Italian granite counter tops and custom Italian cabinetry.
Architectural highlights include private terraces, ceiling-to-floor windows in select areas and 10 1/2-foot-high ceilings with exposed ductwork.
Kitchens come equipped with Sub-Zero, Bosch and Wolf appliances. Dornbracht and Kohler fixtures also are featured.
Buyers can choose from 13 single-story loft plans ranging from 912 to 1,650 square feet. The three remaining penthouses measure 1,912 to 3,073 square feet. Units start at 90 feet from the street, ensuring views for all residents. The first closings are planned for this spring.
In addition to a commercial-grade gym and running track, other rooftop amenities will include a Jacuzzi, spa facilities, locker rooms and a triangular swimming pool overlooking the Strip.
The Newport Skyroom Clubhouse will feature a lounge, billiards area and movie room. Rooftop garden areas will provide 360-degree views of Las Vegas.
Other amenities will include 24-hour doorman service and an on-premise secure parking structure with assigned storage units.
Prices range from the mid-$400,000s to just under $2 million. For a limited time, buyers receive special financing with initial payments as low as $1,200 and free homeowner association dues for one year.
The Newport Lofts sales center is located at 903 S. Casino Center Blvd. To visit, take Interstate 15 and exit Charleston Boulevard east, Exit 41B. Continue on Charleston and turn north on Casino Center and proceed to the sales center, located at the intersection of Casino Center and Hoover Avenue.
