Wisconsin pair chooses William Lyon residence

Wisconsin residents Bill and Susan Day discovered Mountain Falls on their way to a Death Valley camping trip with their long-time friend, a Pahrump-based real estate agent.

The views led the couple to purchase a vacation/second-home in the William Lyons-built, single-story neighborhood, Cascata.

Located in Pahrump Nev., 45 miles west of the Strip, seven single-story home designs in Tramonto and Bella Sera are available within the 1,050-acre master-planned golf course community.

"We saw the value and wanted to get in on the ground floor. We would have been crazy to pass up the opportunity to purchase a second home at Cascata," said Susan, who grew up in Las Vegas. "These days, Las Vegas is a little too big for us, but we found the right community with the help of our friend. We're very pleased that we went with William Lyon Homes. Our Cascata home is impressive."

Singers and music enthusiasts, the Days schedule their time at Cascata around their theatre group performances and Bill's teaching obligations at the University of Wisconsin.

Their 1,511-square-foot floor plan includes three bedrooms, two baths and a two-car garage.

"We love the long main hallway and the airy great room in back. Our backyard has a perfect view of Mt. Charleston," Susan said. "What's not to like about 60-degree winter days? It's zero in Wisconsin."

Model homes are open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, except Monday when they open at noon.

To visit, travel 45 miles west on Highway 160 (Blue Diamond Road) past Interstate 15. Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch and turn right, then left on Lakeview Drive.
