Globetrotting retirees choose Sun City Aliante

After retiring from life as a military family, Gary and Debra Seney traveled for two years throughout the western United States, Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. In each place, they looked at homes.

While each place had its distinct advantages, the one constant they found, according to the couple, was the quality of each region's age-qualified communities by Del Webb.

Eventually, the couple chose Sun City Aliante in the northern portion of the Las Vegas Valley.

"One of the reasons we liked the Sun City lifestyle is that it had its own clubhouse where we could swim and work out in the morning," Gary said. "That's our together time."

The resort-style, age-qualified community is situated around the fairways of the Aliante Golf Club and offers seven single-story floor plans ranging from 1,155 to 2,105 square feet with as many as three bedrooms and two baths. All of the homes come with a two-car garage.

The Seneys said they chose the community, in part, because of Nevada's mild winters, lack of state income tax and the proximity of the community to so many completed and planned conveniences.

The couple chose the Heather floor plan. The 1,155-square-foot home offers two-bedrooms and living and dining room area with open ceilings. Gary modified the great-room area so he and his wife could spend time together while pursuing their separate activities.

"My wife's an artist and I built her a little studio in the corner where she can work on her art and we can still be together," he said. "This home is so special for us -- my wife and I both wanted a new home, one we could decorate and put our own signature on. We feel fortunate that this opportunity came along when it did."

Since moving in, the Seneys have become regulars at the fitness center and swimming pool and make time to explore the community's trail system on their mountain bikes.

The 1,900-acre community is a development of North Valley Enterprises LLC, an affiliate of American Nevada Co. and Pulte Homes and consists of a Primary Village and an Active Adult Village. Home builders in the community include Astoria Homes, Del Webb, KB Home, Lennar, Pardee Homes and Pulte Homes. Homes prices range from the upper $100,000s to the upper $600,000s. As many as 428 acres include the Aliante Golf Club, the 20-acre Nature Discovery Park, Deer Springs Park, Aviary Park.

Nearly 100 acres are allocated for commercial development, including a planned, 40-acre resort gaming hotel, adjacent to Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway.

To visit, take U.S. Highway 95 north to Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, traveling east. Exit at Aliante Parkway and proceed south. The sales office is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, call 866-787-2951 or visit www.aliantehomes.com.
