The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, has funded an English, writing and journalism scholarship at Palo Verde High School with a $1,000 donation in honor of the school's recently retired principal, Teri Smith, pictured with John Potts, senior vice president, Summerlin development. Palo Verde, the first high school in Summerlin, opened in 1997.
