Buyers drawn to new model at HeatherRidge

Longtime Las Vegas Valley residents Bill and Joyce Klingenberg were the first buyers of the new Plan 490 at Wexford Homes' HeatherRidge neighborhood in North Las Vegas.

The couple had spent more than a year looking at homes before finding the neighborhood.

"We originally bought a home here in 1971, and sold it a few years ago and did some traveling," said Bill Klingenberg, an Air Force veteran who worked for the state before retiring to travel.

"When we returned and were ready to buy a home again, we had several criteria in mind, most importantly location. Joyce and I have always favored this area ... because it offers great convenience for us. We go to Nellis Air Force Base on a frequent basis and several of our seven children, along with 12 of our 15 grandchildren, live close by."

The Klingenbergs were also drawn to the new floor plan.

Plan 490 is a single-story design featuring four bedrooms, a casita, den with French doors, and 3 1/2 baths in 2,569 square feet.

"We wanted something that would offer space and convenience for the two of us, plus the extra room we need when our children and grandchildren visit," Joyce Klingenberg said. "Once we saw the Plan 490, we knew it was just right for us. It had the right number of bedrooms and baths, two master suites and a very nice front courtyard. We were also pleased that Wexford Homes was willing to make certain modifications we wanted."

The gated neighborhood features one- and two-story homes ranging from 1,831 to 3,248 square feet.

Prices start from the mid-$180,000s.

All homes come with concrete-tile roofs, front-yard landscaping, block walls and a selection of exterior colors.

Interiors feature rounded corners; hardwood cabinets in a choice of colors; owner suites with dual-sink vanities, garden tubs and walk-in closets in select plans; and laundry rooms.

Buyers can opt for Corian or granite counter tops, fireplaces in owner suites, skylights, custom interior paint or upgraded appliance packages. Other upgrades are available for cabinets, electrical systems, computer wiring and security alarms.

The company offers flexibility in its floor plans as well through a computer-based design system that allows home buyers to consider a multitude of variations. Buyers can consider modifications such as casitas, family rooms, dens, secondary suites, extra bedrooms, formal dining rooms, bonus rooms, offices, wet bars and tandem garages.

Among the amenities are parks, playgrounds and walking trails.

Each home comes with a 10-year new-home warranty.

To visit, take Interstate 15 to Craig Road, go west to Kings Hill Road, and then head south. The sales center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
