Beazer Homes conducts survey, offers dollar deals on homes today
Atlanta-based Beazer Homes USA Inc. commissioned Mediathink, a research company, to conduct an online study of 21- to 44-year-old women throughout the country to describe their dream homes and what makes them buy a home. Company officials said that four percent of those women lived in Las Vegas.
The research company queried 1,971 women, of which 546 said they were "likely to buy" a home in two years. Some of the findings were: While 32 percent saw location as the thing that most distinguished their dream home; 20 percent saw their dream home in the suburbs. Most respondents skipped fancy baths, pools and media centers for nicer kitchens and more storage. A full 54 percent thought affordability was more important than the size of their dream home or its features and upgrades. Finally, 62 percent saw their dream home costing less than $300,000.

Bill June, division president of Beazer Homes Nevada, said all Las Vegas home buyers want a good deal.
With skyrocketing housing prices his company, which has been operating in the city since the early '90s, is offering incentives.
The company is cooling rising home prices for new models; and building in satellite areas such as Pahrump and Indian Springs where housing costs are 25 to 30 percent less than in Las Vegas.
"I believe the biggest trend in the Las Vegas housing market is that builders are going to have to adjust their prices," he said. "Home buyers are demanding more incentives and the cost increases are going to have to slow down for them."
This weekend Beazer Homes is offering $1 specials on mortgage payments and closing costs, in select communities nationwide during Dream Home Dollar Days.
In Las Vegas this means 11 neighborhoods will offer the special. Log on to www.beazer.com for a complete list and directions or call 866-303-0534.
June said the national company will give $25 to HomeAid, the nation's largest provider of transitional housing for the temporarily homeless with 138 completed shelters, for every visitor that comes to see its home models this weekend.
June, who helped found the local chapter, said the national chapter will funnel funds back to its Southern Nevada chapter.
