Golfers flock to Mountain Falls community

Second home buyers, locals find home-resort in William Lyons' Pahrump master plan

Second home buyers who love to play golf are finding their way to Mountain Falls, a 1,050-acre, master-planned, golf course community in Pahrump, according to Laurinda Rose, a representative of the master developer, William Lyon Homes.

"Mountain Falls' close proximity to Las Vegas makes it an ideal destination community for golfers or couples who want a place to escape to for weekends and holidays. When people see the affordable home prices and greens fees, they want to be part of Mountain Falls, if even on a part-time basis," Rose said.

Mountain Falls Golf Club, an 18-hole parkland course, anchors the master-planned community. William Lyon's single-story communities of Cascata Ancora, Tramonto and Bella Sera offer homes priced from the low $200,000s.

Buyers can select from 11 floor plans, ranging from 1,429 to 2,897 square feet.

The master-planned community will soon offer four new product choices by Classic Homes, Desert Wind Homes and Celebrate Homes.

Patrick Edinger, owner of a San Diego-based architectural firm, said his Mountain Falls home is a vacation getaway and business retreat.

"Once I realized how quickly I could access Mountain Falls from Southern California, it became the ideal solution for quick weekend getaways. My vision was to purchase a home where I could meet up with my sons or friends for golf weekends."

Edinger also spends time working in Las Vegas.

"My home serves a practical business function, too. It's a short, beautiful commute from Las Vegas to Mountain Falls."

According to Rose, the master plan also attracts retirees from around the country.

"Many people from cold climates want a warmer place to call home in the winter months. Mountain Falls provides everything they desire, from the quiet setting to the community resident facility to The Mountain Falls Grill Room," she said. "Plus they can be in Las Vegas in no time, but don't have to pay the high price of Las Vegas real estate."

The community resident facility features a fully equipped fitness center with dozens of treadmills, elliptical machines, Stairmasters and recumbent exercise bikes.

Other highlights include free weights and weight-strength machines. There area also locker rooms and a resident lounge with a pool table.

For a nominal fee, residents can also access fitness and activity classes in the facility's multi-purpose room. Outdoor amenities include a family pool, adult pool, spa and interactive water-play area.

The Mountain Falls Grill Room, open to golfers, residents and the public, is located in the clubhouse adjacent to the resident facility. Banquet facilities can accommodate up to 300 guests for weddings, tournaments and private parties.

Dozens of neighborhood mini parks and an approximate 4-mile walking trail are planned. Homeowner association fees are less than $50 per month.

To visit from Las Vegas, travel about 45 miles west on U.S. Highway 160 (Blue Diamond Road) past Interstate 15.

Before reaching Pahrump, turn left on Manse Road. Proceed to Hafen Ranch and turn right, then left on Lakeview. Follow the signs to the Mountain Falls Information Center. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. For more information, call 866-468-3255 or visit www.mountainfalls.com.
