Harrison touts `quiet' garage door

Taken from an automobile advertisement, "Quiet is the sound of a well-made car," the same is true for garage door openers, according to Don Harrison, owner and president of Harrison Door Co.

"The quieter the garage door when it opens and closes, the happier the homeowner," Harrison said.

The company specializes in the manufacture and installation of garage doors.

Harrison said in a 24-hour city such as Las Vegas where family members may work different shifts, the loud opening of a garage door could awaken another family member, especially those with rooms directly above the garage.

That is one of the reasons why the company's Ultra Quiet Opener products have proved to be popular among homeowners.

The quietness of the units is a result of their direct-current motors, which have variable speeds during the operation and a slow-start/slow-stop feature.

The company offers the direct-current, motor-driven units at the same price as openers that use alternating-current motors.

Both models have a lifetime warranty.

Harrison Door Co.'s warehouse, located at 1951 Ramrod Ave in Henderson, is open to the public.
