Conservation: EPA honors PulteSPECIAL TO REAL ESTATE
Pulte Homes' Nevada Operations was named a 2004 Energy Star Partner of the Year by the Environmental Protection Agency. The honor recognized the company's contribution and commitment to energy-efficient building in Southern Nevada. "Pulte Homes takes great pride in our accomplishments together with Energy Star," said Randy Bury, president of the builder's Nevada Operations. "We believe this award is a testament to our long-standing commitment to building the best quality energy-efficient homes that not only benefit our homeowners, but also our environment." In 2002 alone, Americans, with the help of Energy Star, saved enough energy to power 15 million homes and reduce air pollution equivalent to that of 15 million cars, all while saving consumers $7 billion, according to Kathleen Hogan, director of the EPA's Climate Protection Partnerships Division. "Energy Star partners such as Pulte Homes have shown tremendous vision by building homes that are better for the environment," she said. "Every Energy Star home keeps 4,500 pounds of greenhouse gases out of our air each year. That is a tremendous help for our environment." The award will be presented at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., on March 2. Pulte has been an Energy Star partner since 1996 and constructs only homes that are certified energy efficient. The builder also includes in each home its Environments for Living technology, and offers a three-year heating and cooling energy-use guarantee. The builder has furthered its commitment to conservation with the Water Smart home, which is scheduled to open soon at the Escala neighborhood in The Paseos village within Summerlin. Floor plans within the development measure from 1,900 to 2,410 square feet and are priced from $410,990 to $470,990. Presales for Escala are under way in the Hillstone neighborhood sales office in The Vistas village. All three floor plans are available with an optional water-smart package that includes drip-irrigated desert landscaping in the front yard, a high-efficiency washing machine and dishwasher, dual flush toilets, a foot-pedal kitchen sink, and recirculated hot-water systems. The Southern Nevada Water Authority Youth Advisory Council and Pulte Homes designed what they call "the first-ever Water Smart home in Southern Nevada." To reach Hillstone, take Interstate 215 to Far Hills Avenue and head west. Turn left on Carriage Hill Drive, then right on Vista Run Drive. Pulte Homes is developing 20 neighborhoods in Southern Nevada, including Silverstone Ranch and Wyeth Ranch in the northwestern valley; Serenata and Vialetto at Aliante; and Paradiso, Summerfield and Miramonte in Summerlin. The builder offers 20 floor plans at Anthem Highlands.
